Alexia Maikidou Poutrino is a Greek-Italian choreographer, dancer, and educator whose research focuses on Dance Theater. She holds an MFA in Modern Dance, with a Screendance Certificate, from the University of Utah. She also holds a BA in Dance from the Dance School Fyllis Mantziari, as well as an Integrated Master’s Degree from the Theatre Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She is also a recipient of the I-PATH Diploma in Choreography, awarded by Rick Tjia.

Her choreographic work has been presented in Salt Lake City, USA, and Thessaloniki, Greece, while her screendances have been shown in festivals and screenings across Greece, Austria, Sweden, Wales, and the United States. As a performer, she has collaborated with Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, Constance Anderson, Aneta Parpouli, Blenard Azizaj, Ester Ambrosino, and Argiro Tsampazi.

Her co-authored article, “The Embodied Futures of Screendance for the Next Generation,” was published in the special edition of Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies. Her curatorial work includes co-curating Half a Century in Motion: Honoring Chicanx Dance, Art, and Activism, directing Touchstone, a three-part performance series in Salt Lake City, and Jumpcut, a screendance screening featuring artists based in Utah. In Greece, she co-founded the Bloom Theatre Group and the Krama Project Dance Group, presenting work in Greece and Cairo.
